Cargo Declaration for inbound containers to the USA
Effective December 2,2002
The following information must be provided to USA Customs either on USA Customs form 1302, or on a separate sheet or USA Customs approved electronic equivalent, a minimum of 24 hours before vessel departure from worldwide ports destined to the USA. If the required information is not received within the prescribed time, containers will not be loaded on the intended vessel and the carrier will not be liable for any damages. Any penalties for non-compliance will be for the account of the shipper. These costs may include, but are not limited to, not only those in respect to the particular non-compliant cargo, but also associated costs including those arising out of vessel and other cargo delay, investigation, remediation and deviation.

- Internationally recognized hazardous material code when such materials are being shipped
- Container #'s (for containerized shipments)
- The seal number of the last person or company to load the container.
note 9/10 - the id# will be a unique # assigned by US customs upon implementation of the Automated Commercial Environment. note 13 - the vessel number is the International Maritime Organization Number assigned to the vessel.
